Search Chemical Records Help
Use of this search form will return well chemical records that have been submitted into the system.

(Review from link at bottom of page.) Perform the following steps to initiate a search against the database:
1. Select or enter a filter option.
2. Click on the “Search” button.
Selecting or entering an option is required before a search on the database can be initiated.
The system does not contain historic data on all wells in the United States. The data that is
available is that which has been submitted voluntarily by operators since this site has been put online.
Certain combinations of filter criteria may not return any data. As an example, selecting a State in the
filter list where no records have been submitted will return zero records.
In addition, certain filter criteria combinations are additive. As an example, if a State is picked,
and then an Operator is selected that does not have any wells in that State, the search would return zero records.
Each of the individual search criteria options are described below:
- State – This selection box is used to pick a State where a well’s chemical record has been voluntarily submitted to the system. Clicking on the Search button at this time will return all the submitted chemical records for the State selected. All 50 States and the District of Columbia are represented in the list. If no records have been uploaded for a state, applying the filter will return no data.
- County – This selection box is used to pick a County in the State that has been previously picked. Only those Counties that are in the State selected will be available. State must be chosen prior to picking the County. Clicking on the Search button at this time will return all the submitted chemical records in the particular State/County combination. If no records have been submitted for the selected State/County combination, applying the filter will return no data.
- Wells in County – This selection box provides the user a list of Well Names of the wells that have been submitted in the State/County combination previously selected. County must be chosen prior to making the “Wells in County” selection. Selecting a well name will return a single chemical record when the “Search” button is clicked.
- Operator – This selection box contains the registered names of the companies that have voluntarily uploaded
chemical record data to the system.
- API Well Number – This data entry box will allow the user to enter a 10 digit API well identifying number
and search the database for that well’s chemical record. API Well Number will take
precedence over other entered filter options. If an API Well Number is entered, the system
will filter for that well only. The 10 digit API Well Number consists of the following parts:
First 2 digits = State Number, 3-5 digits = API County Number & 6-10 digits = Sequential Hole
Number for Wells in the County. Entry of an API Well Number that does not match a well in the
system will return no data.
- Well Name – This data entry box will allow the user to enter a well’s name and search the database for that well’s chemical record. A search on the well name may return wells with similar names that have been added to the system. As an example, if the search criteria “Jones” were entered and there is a “J. Jones #5” well in Montana and a “Jones Ranch #1” well in New York, both well’s chemical records would be returned.
- Search – Clicking this button will submit the selected/entered search criteria to the database and return any records found that match the applied filter.
- Reset – Clicking this button will clear the selected/entered search criteria in the form.
